Myth
#1
Information
on a Credit Report Is Irreversible
Truth: A credit report is not static. It is
dynamic, meaning it moves and changes based on your credit activity. It
is the responsibility of a creditor to report all activity, including good
and bad credit. Any changes that are requested and legitimate should be
updated as soon as possible. In addition, consumers have the right to question
anything they feel is not accurate on their report. Part of credit counseling
is making sure your credit report is accurate and fair. Any questions should
be directed at the credit bureau. If a creditor is misrepresenting your
information, you need to talk to that creditor and ask them for evidence
of the false information. You may dispute anything that appears on your
report, and with proper documentation, can usually have it removed.
We can help you review your credit report and offer counseling on how to
improve it. We are here to help, so please let us!
